How many sessions will I neED?

You can have as many or as few sessions as you feel you need. We can discuss this when we meet in the introductory session as you might have no idea.

If you are looking for shorter term therapy, attending every week is very important as it helps build the therapeutic relationship. You might choose 6 or 12 session contracts as this time-frame can provide a focus and momentum that you might prefer.

After completing a fixed number of sessions to begin with, you might then choose to continue into more open-ended therapy until you feel ready to end. Alternatively, you might have a break after a fixed number of sessions and return at a later stage if you feel the need.

You might be looking for a longer-term, more exploratory or open-ended way of working because the issues you are dealing with feel more complex or are rooted in past trauma or difficulties from childhood. If this is the case, you would need a much more gradual approach and a therapeutic relationship which holds a high degree of trust, safety and familiarity. This can best be built by attending sessions on a regular basis for a year or two, or more.
